You may now his trilogy of comedy
flicks thus far.
(IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER)
- Clerks
- Mallrats
- Chasing
Amy
If not it is unfortunate because
no movies iv'e ever seen before have been this funny on this level of intelligence.
Clerks is a semi-wacky comedy about one day in the life of a couple of
Register-Jockies(one in a convenience store, and the other in the small
video store next door). It may not sound very original, but i guarantee
you the dialog is. You'll hear some of the funniest oral sex bits
ever. If that's not enough, do me a favor and just see it for the
cynnical-sidekick-buddy of the ever-so-worrysome main main character Dante,
Randall. If you don't rupture your bladder laughing at his off-hand
and often unecessary comments on what they both encounter, their is something
very wrong with you. Now that i've ranted about Kevin Smith first
film, let's move on to his second. If you've actually seen Clerks and want
to see Mallrats, prepare yourself, it's at least ten or or twenty times
wackier and sexually-oriented. It's all about a couple of shopping
mall loungers on a quest for comic's and seeking to make-up with their
former signifigant others. With this very funny but sometimes to
ridiculous for my tastes film, comes the intro of one of my favorite of
Kevin Smith's characters.
Brodie.
You could say someone stuck
his funny-bone up his ass. He's loud, uptight, and fucking hilarious.
On to Smith's most recent cinematic
work of art, Chasing Amy. Now, I went into to the theater expecting
another one of his laugh-a-second complainfest's maybe even a bit goofier
than Mallrats. What i saw was actually one helluva good story laced
with homophobic and sexual humor along with quite a bit of good realistic
drama thrown in that makes this definitely one of my top ten lifetime favorite
movies.
